Can anyone recommend a scope (variable) that will withstand the recoil of the .338. I have a new Simmonds, but a knowledgeable friend doubted it would hold up to the recoil.

.338? I have a Leupold VXII 2-7X that needs a good home. It should stand up to a .338. PM me for terms if you are interested

What is the Simmons scope? Why did your friend think it wouldn't stand up? Shouldn't be any problem.

I really doubt that a Simmons would stand up.I never had any luck with them.Usually the cross hares snap or they make a quarter turn and thats it.The leupy will take it. sam.
