I have always wanted one of these rifles, they seem to be plentiful but ammo is scarce. I was thinking of buying two of them. One to keep original and another to re-chamber in a more popular caliber.
Don't know how easy it would be to rechamber, you'd probably be better off leaving it in its original configuration. But I guess it might depend on the price, and if you could still use the same mag.

"Swiss forum" - K31 rifle. I have read somewhere before that rebarreling can be difficult, due to some oddity in how the barrel mates into the receiver - but I have no first-hand experience with this.
I find handloading for 7.5 Swiss to pose no problems, and they use our favorite .308 bullets and powders. Cases are readily available, or can be very easily converted from .284Win. That's how I keep my Swiss Miss fed!
I do wish a good commercial sporter stock were available - I'd love to be able to restock without "bubbafying" a surplus stock.
Big Dog, Boyd's has a K31 stock including upper hand guard.
You can carve on that and still satisfy your purist instinct. Be prepared to do some fitting. Of course the stock is $139.66,the hand guard $59.86

I'd have to agree with the other guys. I've only heard of them being rechambered to .308. I wanna say I seen a sniper veriant chambered in the 7.62 Nato, but I could be wrong. I'll see if I can't dig that back up at all and get back to you...
I never had problems finding ammo its not as easy as say 30-06 but its around, they advertise it in the shotgun news all the time and brass is easy to order as well as dies and it uses standard 30 cal bullets.
The k31 was sold and can still be ordered (for a hefty price) in 7.5 Swiss, .308 Winchester, 300 Winchester Magnum and 30/06, all from Haemmerli in Switzerland. The 30/06 is a single shot.
The typical .308 conversion was done only to the 1911 rifles imported by Gold State Arms and a couple of others in the 60s and 70s.
A k31 in .308 that's original is worth an easy $2,000.00+ dollars.
Rechambering a k31 is a project only for a qualified and very determined gunsmith.
