Thumbs down My new Walther SP 22 M2

Yesterday, I picked up my new Walther SP 22 M2 at my transfering FFL. I got it home, read the manual, degreased the bore and went to the club. What a disappointment! I could not get the trigger to release the hammer and fire the cartridge. Needless to say I am not happy with this firearm. I sent an email to Walther/S&W, I await their reply. Has anyone else herad of issues with the SP 22?

No, but if it has features similar to the P22 then it has a trigger lock on the side just above the trigger housing. You should have received a trigger lock key that looks like a small house key with a pronged shaft. Use that to unlock the trigger and make sure the magazine is seated well.
Let us know what you find.

Correction: the lock is on SP22 at the base of the handgrip just behind the magazine well and the key looks like a squiggly piece of plactic.

I had that exact same problem. I fixed it today. I dont think it was the correct way either. The sp22 has a magazine safey, i removed it and i could shoot the gun. It is #23 in the exploded view diagram in your owners manual. I am planning to go see a gun smith and find out what i need to do to put it back together correctly. Got my SP22 on Sunday. So far not so good, hope this helps. Also let me know what SW/Walther says.

cptcaveman,
I emailed Walther and got no reply, I called numerous times and never got through, finally I called the 413 area code number and it took over 20 minutes but I got through. They are sending me a shipping label and it is going back for whatever repairs are needed.

I got the SP 22 back from Walther/S&W about an hour ago. The trigger releases the sear as it should and the trigger pull is so-much improved. The paperwork sent back with the gun tells nothing of what was repaired or replaced. If I so choose the paperwork says I can call their 800 number to get a summary of what was done. I'm looking forward to shooting the gun this weekend..
