I won a local shoot with my M44

We had a military shoot at our gun club last week. Didn't really have a great turn out, only 5 shooters in the iron sight rifle class. Me and the guy with a new AK tied and had to have a shoot off.

We both got 1 shot at 100m, we both chose to shoot from the sitting position. My shot was about 2" low of the bull, he missed the paper. The target was a man sil. target. With a 2" dot in the center of his chest.

Mosin for the win

Nice!
You got me checking to see if my shooting range has anything similar, now...

But all they've got are US military issue shoots.

Did you fire it with bayo extended or folded?

Mine will bust orange clays @ 75 yds with bayo folded....my favorite Mosin of the 3 I have.

Great job, congrats! Now you know you will be able to keep the zombies at bay from 100m. They won't even smell ya at that range. (picture at left is actually of texnmidwest)

I used it extended. It was funny when someone commented on how far out in front of me the grass was moving when I fired.

Heh, I just got done watching that series on the history channel last night, tales of the gun. The episode I watched was about the AK47, and they started off with Russian gun history. They did not really mention the Mosin at all, they kind of skipped the bolt action rifles and then talked about the SKS.

Interesting stuff though. I wonder if they will make one about the Mosin?

Good job on the shoot out!

Congrats sounds like fun was had. My 1943 M44 is spot on at 100 yds. It can do it, the question is if I can...

Congrats Raceinready -- took my M44 to the range for the first time. Shot a nice group with iron sights at 100 yds. I was definitely impressed with my M44.

Mine seems to shoot low, I think If I had aimed at his head I'd have been dead on the chest shot(I aimed at his neck on the last shot). My guess, that's due to the ammo, or just the way I like to look at the sights. I'd assume if I bumped the sight up to the 200 mark I'd have been to high. So I'll just stick with aiming at the head.
