Hello, I am new to the site. I purchased XD subcompact last week and love it. This is my first time at pistol shooting in many years. Bifocals are giving me a rough time. I bought this pistol for Conceal Carry. Does anyone out there have this pistol with the Crimson Trace Laser model LG446? If so what has been your experience with it in regards to accuracy, durability and does it change the grip size very much. Thanks!
I cant personally vouch for them, having not owned a set, but I did come across this post today that gives them a great rating for customer service. I do have a friend that owns a set for his Beretta 92, and he loves them.
I bought an XD 9mm Sub compact about four years ago...and eventually decided to try buying a lazer light to install on the rail. I was told by the gun shop employee that none was available for the sub-compact other than the "flashlight" type, which I thought was worthless. He said the lazer was only available at that time for the .40 XD. Since then I haven't check into it again. Is one now available?
On my XD Tactical in 9mm, I like it quite a lot. My eyesight isn't nearly as good as it once was, and with the laser it seems I get on target a lot quicker. The set I put on mine was nearly perfectly set straight from the factory, I made a 1/4 turn adjustment on the horizontal adjustment and it was right on. I have thought about getting a set for my 1911 as well.
It is not practical in my opinion to have a rail mounted unit. I understand there is a lot of switch problems. If you use the gun for self defense that is one more thing you have to deal with in a stressful situation. Also the rail mount is on giving your position away! With the grip style you can turn the laser on and off with just your grip. If you needed to move you wouldn't be waving a light beam around letting the bad guy know what you're doing. I really appreciate all the input. It looks like I need to put my money aside for the Crimson Trace Laser.
My .40 subcompact XD is my main carry gun. I am looking at putting a laser sight on it. A co-worker has the exact same gun and has a laser. She likes it a lot.
I have Crimson Trace grips on my Sig 220 and my wife has them on her S&W Airweight...we both love them. I've been shooting over 50 years and the Crimson Trace Laser are the best thing I've found as a training adjunct and for practical application. Both grips were as comfortable as the stock grip with no appreciable difference in size. Works in all my holsters as well.
I totally agree on the Crimson Trace being the way to go. I put the CT on my Kimber stainless pro carry over a year ago and the batteries are still going strong. It does not change the grip but at ready w/ finger along the guard it can block the laser. Just have to get used to it. Very accurate and easy to set up. You still need to train and practice using the front sight focus and use the laser for special situations.
I have loved the CT grips on my M&P 40. CT is a really great product. Go to their web-site to see the products up close for your individual gun.
It was funny though when i first got them. I guess I thought I would have pin point accuracy once I had the "laser". I learned however that I still have to overcome certain bad shooting habits, such as how I am not always consistent with how my finger pulls the trigger.
Along with accuracy, the laser is a great teaching tool and will reveal to you any bad habits you may have. CT can send you a free dvd that shows off their products and offers a bit of training and laser shooting tips as well. You can request it from their website. Check it out.
