Hello folks, long time lurker - first time poster. My recently purchased SAMCO K31 has made its third trip to the range, and I'm having a good time learning about it. So far I've only shot Privi FMJ ammo thru it. My last range session I fired off about 30 rounds, nice predictable BOOM after each trigger pull. Then next trigger pull and the trigger movement just feels a little off, gritty or something, and the sound is more of a CRACK than a BOOM. I look at the spent case - looks fine, no cracks or splits. Pull the bolt out and look at the lugs, everything looks good. Bore looked good. Decided to try again and shot another 10 rounds, with no problems. Took it home and completely stripped the bolt for cleaning and everything looked good. This also happened once on the previous trip to the range.
Does this sound like a rifle issue or maybe a weak powder charge to that particular cartridge? I'm guessing it's the ammo. I appreciate any help.

Welcome to G&G! Gald to have another Swiss Rifle Shooter!
Yep, sounds like a light load in that cartridge. Not a squib, thank Goodness.
Did you notice if it impacted the target differently, maybe a bit lower than the others? That would indicate a lighter powder charge too. Your apparent trigger difference could've have been due to your own unconcious reaction to the lighter recoil.
Privi ammo is generally good, but the true Swiss GP-11 issue ammo is better - I've shot a few hundred with NEVER a hiccup! I reload now too, which is cheaper but just now approaching the level of GP-11 in accuracy.
Thanks, i figured it was probably ammo. Unfortunately I didn't notice the difference (if any) where that bullet impacted. I missed out on the last of the GP11 from Graffs by a week or so. So for I've been happy with the Privi (big improvement for me over my 91/30 and Bulgarian surplus).
I'd like to take up reloading but for now it's not doable.
I've never noticed anything unusual in the privi I've shot in my K31's,but
I have noticed that some of my bulgarian 7.62x54 rounds seem like they have more powder than others. Every once in a while I shoot one that is much louder than the others.
Welcome to G&G Type247
Welcome! It sounds like it could very well be that ammo. I have only shot very few Prvi rounds through my K31s. It has primarily been the Swiss surplus stuff. If you checked everything out, and there is no evidence of damage, then it sounds like the ammo. I have never noticed any light loads during my shooting. Nice rifle too. What year is it?
