Dec 9, 1956 The first Lockheed C-130A Herculesis delivered to the 463rd Troop Carrier Wing at Ardmore AFB OK Dec 15, 1944 Bound for France, bandleader Army Maj. General Glenn Miller and two others take off from England in a Noorduyn C-64 Norseman but are never heard from again. It is likely that the single engine plane crashed in the English Channel, but this has never been verified. Dec 18, 1972 During the linebacker II bombing of Hanoi, SSGT Samuel Turner becomes the first B-52 gunner to shoot down enemy aircraft in the Viet Nam conflict (I call it a war) More in January. :assult: |
