I bought a Kimber Montana in .325WSM for a bear hunt in AK. instead for the time being I went to South Africa and shot a few things.

I shot my bear in Perryville Ak. with a 338 RUM with a 250gr. at 4600ft. lb. of energy. It knocked the bear down at 50yrds. He got to his feet in blinding speed and took off thankfully back the way he came. shot him two more times before he left the trail. I'm not sure I would take an 06 after brown bear. Things can go wrong real guick when dealing with the big bears. Al

I would go with the .45/70 for bears in close range work.

But .300 win mag really shines.
