But seriously, I have to go along with Swede. About 20 years ago, I got out of a truck with a buddy just as snow began to come straight down. We had about a half mile walk then separated. After climbing to the top of a long hill, I took a look the the scope as we all do, and saw nothing but white and fuzziness. The scope (a Redfield 2x7 widefield) had about a quarter inch of snow on the the front glass. I attempted (before thinking) to blow it off. I just made it worse. I now use flip caps. I open them before hunting on most days. If it is snowing, I open them when I spot something. Just open slowly and with care. Same with light rain. If it is raining hard......I defer to widsom and don't venture forth. |

Rain doesn't bother me. I actually prefer it. easier to stalk hunt, but it becomes sight hunting because you cant hear them coming either. I've taken most of my deer in the past when the weather has been less than good. I've got see thru flip caps on most of my hunting rifles.

i dont believe my original question has been answered though
would the caps fit on the objective of the scope if its adjustable..the raised "grip" seems like it would alter the fit

Well...CP makes their own that are made to fit their "grip"...I can't think of any other company that bothers to do that offhand...but someone probably knows of at least one other.
Of course, you might try a CP Flip Cap on yours to see if it'll fit...
Or you just have to find a regular Flip Cap that will fit over your raised grip. Definitely can't order it over the internet...go to a gun shoppe & try out varios ones until you find one that fits...then you'll know

My rear cap ends up on top with a smiley face looking back at me. Front flips out to the right side.

G & A can use more of this type of logic. |

all of my scopes that are AO, the front of the bell does not rotate. the rear bell does not rotate on the variable power scopes either. the rear bell is adjustable to focus but after that there is no need to turn that portion. so I guess i'm just a bit confused by the question.

i'm feeling a bit out of place here, but what about my old favorite..... cut a piece off an old inner tube.... works great..... cheap...... if you lose it, you can always get more..... doesn't cost anything....... waterproof, and silent...... plus, you can use it for a tornequet if you need one.... just my 2 bits...

I have one scope out of 10 with the flip caps. The other 9 will never have them, not a fan at all.

I've got em on 3 scopes and love em. I've never had any trouble in hunting situations with them.

I have one of the yellow tinted caps on my Bushnell Banner 3-9x40AO scope. Can't really put one on the eyepiece end because of the fast focus eyepiece. I put some on my .243 I used to have after hunting one winter day and having to clean snow out of the end of my scope more that twice. I still have those caps on the shelf for another scope when I decide what one to put them on.
One thing you have to do with the adjustable objective like mine is open the cap and rotate the bell so you can find a position for the cap so the opened cap doesn't hit the barrel or stock when the AO is adjusted.
