Well this is year #5 that I have recieved the middle finger from the state of NV when it comes to drawing a big game tag. Just found out first thing this morning that I was an Unsuccessful Applicant. Man this is getting old. Keep paying the fees year after year only to get denied. Anyone else find out their fate yet?
I have so far 6 preference points for mule deer (special zone), antelope, elk, and bighorn sheep. The elk and sheep I can understand, the antelope to some degree, but for it to be 6 years for deer is beyond me! What really pisses me off is the local PETA group based out of Redding, California have been actively soliciting their members to apply for these tags with the purpose of letting them go unused so they can "save" the animals from being hunted. This is why there is only a 37% success ratio in the area I want to hunt in. :-?
yeah that's frustrating to say the least tamalpias. I am really bummed right now. I am going to put in again for the 2nd draw but I am not liking my chances at this point.
The DFG around the area doesn't seem to care about helping out the hunters either. If they know that there are non-hunters applying for these tags every year and the success ratio is so low they could have increased the number of draws to get a higher ratio of hunters in there. As it is currently we are all stuck on the same boat with no tags to be handed out. What is even worse is I see antelope and deer on my friend's property ALL the time and since he is a rancher/farmer they have almost become residential game animals because they know they will get food and water every day on his alfalfa fields. The worste part is the constant teasing these animals put on me knowing I do not have the tags to shoot them with.
I am going to go wild boar hunting either in CA or locally if the price is right. I am tired of not getting drawn. If it wasn't for me owning a house here in Vegas I would transfer to our Pacific Northwest Office. That way my chances would improve.

This is why we never bothered since moving here.
CA is great for pigs, though, as we've discussed. No word on the feral pig thing after we determined what the deal was so far in NV?
Well Coel once the weather isn't hot enough to cook with I will try my hand up in Mesquite. If I do head over to Cali the Central coast won't be near as hot as it is here so I could go July August time frame.
well not only I didn;t apply for a mule deer drawing this year, but I missed the date for the left over deer tage they sold. Went on sale june 11.... sold out June 15... That was my second attempt at hunting deer... I was so excited... i guess I'll have to wait for next year.
Apparently they still have Spike bull elk tags so I might give it a shot, just for the sake of it... but my inexperience will probably not help bring meat... who cares though as long as I have a good time tryuing
Big Shrek they have changed things around a little since I had first put in several years ago. The first time I applied you paid the full amount for the tag so Antelope and deer were something like $60, Elk was around $160. The sheep species depending on which one you were going after would really set you back. If you were unsuccessful you were either refunded all but $10 or you could buy a preference point which would rank you higher in the draw or so they say. Now they only charge you between $10-$15 per animal that you put in for and it is non refundable. You do however get a preference point if you are unsuccessful. You can also opt to buy a preference point instead of trying your luck. Example is my friends wife is expecting to have a baby in late October so if he were to draw a tag for deer or elk it would be right around that time and he might as well not ever come home if he were to go hunting. He took the wiser option and just bought a point and will wait until next year.

Looks to me like your mate needs to do some pest control work. Me, a 223 with a can on, job done.

hmmm, wife haveing baby, only take a preference point rather than risk being there to be called every name in the book and change diapers. I think I would have prayed long and hard for a tag.
A mate of mine dropped his missus at the hospital to have said baby, then since he was up so early shot home and grabbed the dog's and went pig hunting. As you do.

Come over to NC. Don't have to apply for tags. Pretty easy to find a outfitter, the out of state license is a little more, but you will more than likely end up with meat in the freezer. The deer aren't as big, but there's plenty of them.
So once again i check this year and got ZERO on my deer, antelope, elk, and sheep draw. I get $22 back from my deer tag that I paid $34 for. And at my state's current rate I will most likely get an IOU. :-?
The only permit hunting in Arkansas is for Elk. Deer are as thick as hairs on a dogs back here in So. Arkansas.
All you need to hunt them is a hunting license. I can't imagine haveing to get a permit like yall do...That Sucks !
yall would be better off going to a neighboring state if there is one, say like Arkansas and buy a non-resident license and hunt, camp for a week.
Man, that sux! Not to be mean or anything, but I just learned that my $28 tag allows 4 does and 1 buck up from 2\1 last year. Hogs are unlimited as long as you have a license.
