Gunsmith in Denver

Does anyone know of a good, affordable gunsmith in the Denver area? I need a receiver drilled and tapped and a bolt handle forged. I was going to start cold calling, but thought I would ask here first. Thanks in advance.

Anyone??

I have called every listing that google brought up within 25 miles of my house in Lakewood. Either the gun shops no longer offer the service, or the smiths that were listed are out of business. The only place that I can find in the entire city of over 2 million people is at Bass Pro Shops and it is cheaper for me to mail my gun someplace, have the work done, and ship it back. That is just not right. Anyone have someone in the Front Range area that they use and trust and does not charge a couple hundred to drill for a scope mount and weld on a bolt handle?

Do you have a Gander Mountain in your area?

Most have a full time smith in them (my area one does)

I live in Wyoming but what may be a good idea for your bolt handle being forged is go to a blacksmith, like one that does wrought-iron gates and stuff...he'd be able to forge you a bolt handle without destroying the bolt itself.

As for drilling and tapping a receiver uhm...might try some of the sporting goods stores up by Loveland and stuff maybe even as far north as Cheyenne.

I finally got a hold of the Colorado School of Trades. They are doing the work for me. Thanks.

It is my understanding that Green Mountain Guns in Lakewood, off of Hampden & Wadsworth does a fairly good job. The floor staff is a bit uppety and snobby at times, but maybe you can talk directly to the gunsmith there.
