I have a friend that has a gun shop, and in stopping in to see him the other day to say hello, I see he has a ar-15 on steroids. It is a DPMS AR-10 with a stainless very heavy barrel. This gun is massive compared to my two AR-15's. It has been two days and I cannot stop thinking about it.
I just called and told them I would take it.
It does not have a collapsible stock, which I would prefer.
Can someone recommend a very high tech collapsible stock and the place to get 25 round mags?
I am sure some other members can suggest a good collapsible stock but I would think you would want it fixed as an AR-10 is in .308 and is kinda a big gun and not really a small "tactical" gun. But, it is your rifle and I believe "to each his own".

Secondly, congrats on the AR10. As for where to get a collapsible stock and 25rd. mag, you should just be able to do a search or, the guy your buying it from should be able to get you both as well.
But you can check any of the tactical websites on the net. I'd list and or link you a few but I'm on the laptop and all my links are saved on the desktop PC.
Just google both items. Try using the words below and you should get plenty of places?

HELLO AR10, I have a DPMS LR308B it came w/full stock. The thing is that to be sure of correct fit of a collapsible stock there is two sizes of buffer tubes, commercial and military. A slight dif in diameters so an AP4 collapsible stock may not fit A2 tube. To be sure I purchased a DPMS AP4 carbine stock assembly for the LR308. I dont know what model you have, but I just received DPMS catalog today in mail. Part no. is..... 308-CS-AP4....$99.95 US this includes buffer tube, lock ring, collapsible stock, buffer spring, and follower.
Only parts from an AR15 that will fit the 308 is the trigger group.
You can also look up a lot of things on the DPMS web sight, just google dpms.com. You can order from Midway USA as I dont think DPMS sells direct to public anymore because of backlog.
I plan to use mine for deer hunt and with thick coat on, sights are out there not to see easy. Collapse stock to shootable length and Wallah there she is.
I first saw ads for accessories for it in CTD cat and wondered about it and couldnt rest untill I found one to hold, when I did, I made three trips to hold it. Its a piece of artwork in machinery. Picked it up on third trip. The fannageling and story I had to tell my wife why I needed it is another story.
For Mags they only have 4, 10, and 19, rounders. In Missouri you can have a 11 round capacity so I got a 10 rounder. Some states only allow 5, so the 4 would work there. For good looks always chuck a 19 rounder in....LOL
Hope to hear from you about the model you have, DPMS also has a forum to ask questions to the tech staff also.
If you have the flattop a good scope is the Sniper Scope from another vendor that comes in single fixed powers 10, 20, and 30 I think for $300.00 US
These 308s are advertised to make clean kills on game out to 600 yds.
I guess unclean out to 1,000 yds...LOL.

Feeling the need to upgrade firearms, I decided to just put about 600 dollars worth of accs that are for sale as my local Schields for my two AR's. I am ordering a new DPMS from Schields the way I want it. I like the look & option of the forward assist (not that I have ever used one) and collapsible shoulder stock, along with several other things. Maybe a two stage trigger.
You guys can help me spend my money by recommending things.
I want to be able to get out from 100 feet to 300 yards, so barrel recommendations would be helpful. I dearly love the heavy barrels, so I know I want one of those. The bigger the better.

The dealer came over and picked out a model 94 Winchester made in 1919 as a trade. I get the scope and a thousand rounds of good .308 ammo, and he gets a gun I have had sense 1998. I have two hundred dollars in that gun, so I guess my purchase way back then was a good investment.
Schields says they could not order in a gun with a collapsible stock. What? O well.
So I still need to mod my new gun a bit. Pick it up tomorrow if my background check goes OK. Never done that before. I used to be a gun dealer.
Ar10 when shopping for your collapsible stock you MUST get a MILSPEC that is the only way you can get a buffer and tube for one all the others(for ar-15) will fit but... you won't be able to cycle a round the buffer doesn't go back far enough for the 308 round. trust me I made this mistake and now with the short supply I am forced to look at my new buffer tube(took 3 months to get it) and no stock. I have the Armelite version and it is basically the same for the DPMS
The point in a colapsible stock on the ar-10 isn't for making it compact like an ar-15 it is for the length of pull adjustability for comfort.

My son has a colaspable stock on his Bushmaster AR-15. M-4 version. He wanted to ad a 1 point hitch for a sling.
It looked simple to do. Just unscrew the tube and slide on the hitch and screw it back on LOL.
If you only knew the hell we went through trien. When he had it all together he went outside and shot 3 rounds through it and the gun fell completely apart.
The tube shot of and some small parts were lost in the yard, had a gun smith fix it and it did it again.
Ended up sending it off and now it's fixed SO know what your doing when you replace the stock...A.H
A collapsible stock will only shorten weapon not lengthen it.
You dont sound like you listen to experience or reason.

DA, it depends what stock you purchase as to if it will be longer in the extended position. If you purchase one that extends to a shorter position only, then yes indeed, it would be shorter.

That is always a possibility, but not rather likely as I am careful with my hands and careful with my words.
As for everyone else that has tried to help me with advise, thanks! Picked up the gun today. Wonderful piece of craftsmanship and engineering. Quite a handful in size and weight compared to the AR-15s.
I am finding mags are rather difficul to come by.

This is not entirely true. DPMS uses a commercial diameter AR15 carbine stock tube on all of our LR-308s (when a carbine stock is present) by default. The mil-spec tube will also function correctly on an LR-308. Only the buffer and spring differ between the two platforms. If you do not have a carbine 308 buffer and spring, you will have problems. You can use whatever AR15 stock you like.
