Bought the .303 from a guy on Gunbroker, about 100 rounds, while waiting for the "JC" to be shipped.
It is supposedly British-made (Not POF-I have some and it works very well).
Was the "K" made for the civilian or military users?
If military, I had no idea that the British forces still used these in the 50's, but maybe it was for overseas users in the remaining "commonwealth".
IIRC British and Commonwealth forces were still equipped with the .303 at the time of the Korean War; so if the K52 refers to 1952 manufacture, it would have been wartime issue for active service.
"K" was "Kynoch" one of the largest British ammunition makers up until the 60's (I believe). If the Ammo is ball it's military. The .303 rifle remained in service until the mid 50's when it was replaced with the L1A1 SLR/FAL.

There was also a "K" factory in India which made ammo during WW1 but don't know if they were still manufacturing in 52.

A friend has a chunk of his friend's 60's Pakistani in the 32-round boxes (kept in original metal can) to sell.
I've shot about 100 rounds of similar POF, but do you guys do any extra cleaning after using POF, compared to the ('43) British .303, which was produced during the time of
Alfred the Great?
For example, after pouring boiling water down the bore and scrubbing with patches before drying, do you then use 'Break-free or Hoppe's #9, the nasty nitro liquid? I guess the J. Carbine is a "nitro-burning funny car".
What do Gandog, Alan, Wun and the other classic gun gurus recommend?
POF is the Pakistani headstamp for the .303 milsurp. Thats about all I know. It is corrosive, and should be cleaned as such. Clean with soapy water, windex with ammonia, Hoppes. I have a strict regiment I clean all my milsurps with after shooting corrosive ammo. I use Windex, Butch's Bore Shine, Hoppe's 9, and a Hoppe's copper solvent as well as letting it soak after each pass. Its just me, and is probably a little overkill, but thats ok with me if my guns stay happy

It stands for "Pakistani Ordinance Factory", as with the old British desigination
{Royal} "ROF (F)" for so many rifles in WW2 and long before etc. My British ammo says "K 43", as in 1943. Shooting the exact same stuff that British troops used in Europe, Burma etc.
Don't know about you guys, but I sure wish that LEs were the same price as MNs.
Having one LE is not enough.
I don't use corrosive ammo these days mainly because I haven't seen any in Donkey's years so I use reloads or Privi Partisan. When I did use corrosive ammo I just used hot water, "Youngs 303" and a light oiling when dry.

I got no problem using the corrosive stuff. My range bag always has some Windex in it for immediate flushing out at the range. But I shoot mostly reloads for accuracy.
