I can I keep the state bird of Texas, Mocking Bird, from stealing all my tomatos or just pecking the crap out of them? Besides shooting!!
Thanks,
Grant
try aluminum pie pans tied arround diffrent spots in your garden. the noise and the movement they make will kep most birds away. also you can buy a plastic owl to put on a pole in your garden,or the next thing would be to get a large fake snake to put close to your tomatos (be sure to tell your family it's out there or they will blast it to pieces ) hahaha
I have tryed all the above, no luck. They even move 2x4 I placed around the net bottom or burrow under. I find them having a field day inside the net. Squerrls not much of an issue.
Hang some Christmas balls on on your plants down where they can get to them outside your netting. They peck them and they are too hard, and will leave the rest alone. Mirrors work too. They will see another bird. As for moving 2x4's and such your need a strong perimeter.
Go by a sack of biddy feed and keep some sowed close to your garden. I've never seen a Mocking Bird bother tomatoe's here.
They happen to be Arkansas State Bird to. I've got a pet Mocking Bird that flys around me when I mow my yard. It makes it easier for him to find bugs and worms where the grass is cut.
Sometimes I have to wait on him to move out of the way. He'll lite on branches and shrubs not 4 feet away as I pass by. Next time I mow I'll have a box of night Crawlers to offer him, I hope he takes them from my hand LOL
