oh ok thanks! I was thinking there was more to the sticky thread list. I was examining my gun a little closer and i do have pins on the rear sight mount. Being a pre-war gun (1934 Izzy hex) would it still be soldered on also?

my 33 was pinned and soldered.
took about ten minutes to get it off with the right drift punch a propane torch and a helping hand.
my brothers 31 had no solder and took five.

any tips on adjusting the windage on a mount that doesn't have windage adjustment? Shims? Washers? Alternate sides for the clamps?

Use "Millett windage adjustable scope rings" You can buy them at Dicks Sporting Goods stores, and at Gander Mountain sporting goods stores.
They should get you in line with the barrel if your mount is not true with the barrel.

Iron Colonel, thanks for the pictures of your Mosin and the mount. Reading all this stuff about the Mosin has got me thinking about one. But if I get one, the scout scope is the way to go. Recently I took the rear sight base off a Turkish Mauser using a Benz-O-Matic propane torch. Easy!. Just heat the base until the solder starts to drip out and tap it off. Does the front sight of the Mosin have to be removed for the scope to work properly? Does it interfere with the sight picture of the scope? I noticed that yours is off in your picture.

i don't see the front sight when i look through my scope. don't know why, but it doesn't interfere with the view at all.

Mike82 man i loved your scope mount

I honestly think that a mount like that(one piece...Rings dont move) would work better and that those cheapo depot scout mounts and go back to the scrp were they came from....

Sry didnt have a chance to do this on that on your post but..
BUMP
