Gun Kits

Not sure if this is the right place, but oh well.

I was surfing round last night and was seeing what were generally called "gun Kits" or some variation of the name. I was just wondering what these actually where. Are they just an assortment of replacement parts, conversion kits, or most of a gun just missing a receiver or something?

Mostly they are destroyed Military weapons and so it is all the parts minus the receiver and now in Most cases , the original barrel has been destroyed due to BATFE Regs...
