I hope the members in Hawaii are prepared

I am never a guy who worries about SHTF scenarios, I am earthquake prepared. It looks like what some of you guys are talking about can be a likely scenario in Hawaii if there is mass panic on the island. Although the odds of something causing mass panic is remote what I read on the news today cannot be discounted.

Looks like the Koreans have missile technologies that can reach Hawaii and they have been reported to have nuclear as well as biological weapons. I doubt there will be a need for guns to defend against Korean invaders but I do hope those of you who live within firing range of this desperate nation have sufficient rations to be self sustaining while the rest of the nation mobilizes and help you guys out.

Gates: US puts more missile defense around Hawaii

WASHINGTON – The United States has positioned more missile defenses around Hawaii as a precaution against a possible North Korean launch across the Pacific, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday. "We do have some concerns if they were to launch a missile to the west in the direction of Hawaii," Gates said.
Gates told reporters at the Pentagon he has sent the military's ground-based mobile missile system to Hawaii, and positioned a radar system nearby. Together the systems theoretically could detect and shoot down a North Korean missile if it came to that.
"Without telegraphing what we will do, I would just say ... we are in a good position, should it become necessary, to protect Americans and American territory," Gates said.
A Japanese newspaper reported Thursday that North Korea might fire its most advanced ballistic missile toward Hawaii around the Fourth of July holiday.
A new missile launch — though not expected to reach U.S. territory — would be a brazen slap in the face of the international community, which punished North Korea with new U.N. sanctions for conducting a second nuclear test on May 25 in defiance of a U.N. ban.
North Korea spurned the U.N. Security Council resolution with threats of war and pledges to expand its nuclear bomb-making program.
The missile now being readied in the North is believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles (6,500 kilometers), and would be launched from North Korea's Dongchang-ni site on the northwestern coast sometime around July 4, Independence Day in U.S., the Yomiuri newspaper said.
It cited an analysis by Japan's Defense Ministry and intelligence gathered by U.S. reconnaissance satellites.

I just read this mentioned this morning, supposedly shooting one towards Hawaii between July 4th and July 7th or so - supposedly.

Not anything I would want to fathom, because that would open up a can of worms that no one could walk away from unscathed. Certainly I am sure we have military precautions, but nonetheless not something we should allow ourselves the experience of.

Mr. Kim Jong Il isn't someone I would want with access codes, perhaps someone within his community will do the world a favor, and push him down his gold plated stairwell before he does something stupid.

Currently the military is tracking a North Korean ship hugging the Chinese coastline and headed towards Singapore or some place to refuel.

Of course once it moves away from China to the US will ask to board the NC ship which Im sure will be denied. Once in Singapore the US govt will have to ask the Singaporean govt permission detain and board the ship while its in port... I wonder if they will do such a thing.

I would like to see us ZAP No. Koreas missels. What I mean by Zap I'm under the impression we now have a Boeing jet or jets rigged out to shoot lazer beams to destroy missels.

What would be the presidents response to a missle from N Korea, aimed at or in the direction of any other nation, or ours? I still remember the black hawk down mission, and the lack of response by the Clinton adminisstration.
No one should wish for war, but they should be prepared to do what is needed to keep the people safe.
Anyone get a warm fuzzy feeling about being safe with the current administration?

They would pry just shoot it down. NK does not have the technology to get a missile to anywhere on american soil with the exception of parts of alaska. He would shoot it down with our missile defense system. I do not believe we would use nukes against NK. perhaps we could lob some cruise missile at them.

What missile defense system?? The Patriot's weren't all that effective...the lasers are still in testing...and Clinton wussed out on implementing Ronnie Raygun's Star Wars space-based missile defense.

Obama would send Kim Jong Il a very stiff note expressing his outrage that North Korea shot a missile at US territory and suggesting that they meet someplace where Obama could apologize to the North Koreans for provoking the attack. Remember who the president is now and that he has the backbone of a chocolate eclair.

Well, he hasn't pulled out of Iraq yet...I was actually surprised he didn't pull our guys out within the first day he was in office. So he's not a total idiot on military tactics. Just not real good at 'em.

I'm kinda hoping NK manages to get one or two to California...would solve a LOT of our problems... Kali SO needs a good culling...especially around Hollywood & San Fran.

Within seconds after the North Korean launch the U.S. should launch two nuclear missiles, one targeting the NK nuclear facility and the other targeting the NK capitol.

That were the patriots back then. The newer ones are quite a bit better.

Our military upgraded our missile defense system in Hawaii and you know more than what our military knows? You must be such a genius.
