What do you guys who shoot your M1s a lot consider a good spare parts kit?At the range as well as long term,I'm working on a fairly deep spares kit for long term, this stuff ain't gonna last forever.
Op Rod, op rod spring, an extra gas plug and an extra firing pin or two couldn't hurt?
I'm a recently new Garand owner myself. I am just guessing at these items. But I guessed based on what I'd get spares of if I had the cash, and space. lol
I'm sure there is other stuff as well.
I'm also sure others will stop in. Just give the thresd time to be seen and check back now and again.

Here's a fairly typical list, as sold by Tony Pucci:
G99a New Expanded Kit!!! Complete recommended spare parts kit. Firing pin, ejector assembly, extractor, extractor spring & plunger, our new 17-7 stainless steel operating rod spring, hammer spring, clip ejector, clip latch spring, hammer pin, trigger pin, and follower arm pin. In our opinion and from our experience, these are the parts most likely to cause problems and stoppages in an M1 rifle. All partsbrand new or excellentU.S.G.I.All the good handy spares in one package! In stock! 75.00
Worth it's weight in gold when you get that case head separation.
I've only ever used mine once on my own rifle & a few times on other guys rifles.
I now have them for every calibre rifle I own.

OK, but, do I have to get a 7.62x51 as well as a 308? I can't seem to find both. sorry

Yes of course, just same-same as your bore snakes! If you've got a .30-06 rifle you'll also need a stuck case remover & bore snake in that calibre as well.
I'm building quite a collection of them but not quite as many as my bore snakes; .30-06, 7.62 x39, 7.62 x 51, 7.62 x54, .303, 30/30, .308, 30-06, 7mm, 8mm. Helluva job just keeping track of what's what!
