Well folks, after many years of sitting on the bench I finally did it, I put my first 1911 on layaway today, we had a Springfield Armory GI 1911 in the shop and the price ($525) was too good for me to pass up on a NIB 1911.
I am very excited about this gun, and I look forward to owning it and customizing it.
Will post pics when I pick it up in a few weeks.

Congrats on the purchase. Did you go or parkerized or stainless. Right now my only 1911 is the GI 45, but I'm saving my pennies to add more to my collection.
Take it out and shoot it...shoot it a bunch...you may not need any mods...everyone thinks they have to do this to it or do that...that model is ok just as is...

If only one pistol could be made on earth, the 1911 in .45 ACP would be the best choice. Allow for another model in .22 and we'd hardly miss all the rest.
