I have been in the military for 34 years and had several guns, Now I'm retired and want them to go to good use. How can I determine what they are worth and how to handle a sale?
I have the following;
1. Smith and Wesson, 1877 colt 32, 5 shot pearl handle
2. Forehand Arms Co 1886, type unknown, 6 shot
3. American Double action, 6 shot
4. H&R 1904, 38s, octagon barrell 6 shot
5. I.J.C.Target sealed, 22, 8 shot
Also rifles
1. L.G. Mod FeinWerkBau Olymic Air Rifle Oberndorf/N
300S cal 4.5/177 made in germany used in 1976 Olympics
2. Marlin 22
3. Marlin 30 g shotgun
4. Marlin 30/30
any help is appreciated, I have not used and will never use these, it would be a shame to let them sit in storage. thanks
Congrats on your retirement. 34 years! WoW! Iv'e 26, and hope to make 30.
Guns, you can pick up a book like blue book of gun values, or check on the on line auction sitres like guns america etc..for a general feel of the value. If you have them valued at a gun store, you can probably get about 25-35% more than the offer price. Remember, they have to mark them up & 30% =-!)% is not a terrible profit margin.
I would get a recent copy of the blue book of gun values for a good reference. I find them at used book stores for about half of cover price. Also, if you can find a place to put them on consignment that may be a good option for you as well. That way an FFL will be handling the sale and offers a little more security. The shop I use only charges 10% but that is a very good deal.
What type of Marlin 30-30 do you have? Scoped? Condition? I love those old 30-30s.
