My deer tags from Nebraska showed up in the mail yesterday.1 either sex and 2 doe tags. It's only 90 degrees outside might as well think about hunting right.Talked with my friends up there and found out they planted lots of corn this year and the deer are thick. In fact his wife already got one with her pickup a fat doe took out everything between the headlights on her 01 Ram 1500.Here are some pics of the buck I got last year.In the background you can see a windbreak behind the barn on a unoccupied farm they own. I shot this buck as he was sneeking down the tree line. He was living right on the homestead behind the barn.50 feet from the corn field and 100 feet from water.I had seen him at first light in the cut corn and could not get a shot.Went back 2 hours later and thought I might walk the windbreak and spot him. When I stepped between the house and barn he was on the move but not spooked yet.My Ruger M77 .270 that I had won 8 years ago at a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation raffle hit it's mark. My first day whitetail hunting was working out to say the least. Can't wait till November. The last pic is from the taxidermists when I picked him up last week. He's no monster but a very nice buck for your first whitetail.
Gotta love that corn feed venison.Even the non game meat eaters at my house went for it.Even though he was a older deer still really good. Can't wait for some young tender doe.
