I recently inherited an FEG SMC-22. Looks like a nice little gun, but I need a manual to help me learn to field strip and clean it (I'm a novice). Can anyone help me find a manual or some other instructional material? Thanks all...
It's my understanding that the SMC-22 is mechanicaly similar to the FEG centerfire pistols. General procedures are very simple.
For field stripping and cleaning:
1. Remove the magazine and clear the chamber. Leave the hammer cocked.
2. Pull down the trigger gaurd and push it slightly right so the end rests on the frame.
3. Pull the slide all the way back and lift up on the rear of the slide. This will free the slide from the frame rails.
4. Ease the slide forward off the barrel.
That's it for basic cleaning. Reassemble in revrse order.
Working further into the mechanism can be a bit tricky (lots of tiny parts and springs). If you have particular problems, ask.
