I'm might be interested in one of these after Christmas

I checked the whole forum and only found 2 threads about them. They had some info but I need more.

I want a medium range rifle (300 - 500 yards) with single shot drop capability.

Does anyone have any opinions about this weapon.

My other choice is a Romanian AK

Convince me to spend the extra $1100 for a SOCOM instead.

First of all, if you are looking for accuracy out to 500 yards forget the AK. I would opt for an AR instead. For the power I would opt for the 308 round. Also, look at the CETME or something like that. But, if you want power and 500+ capability you can get a garand for what you would spend on an AK and you will get accuracy out to 1K yards.

SOCOMs are great rifles and well made. One can not go wrong with them. But for the money and power, I would opt for a Garand. JMHO
