9mm Ammo trouble

I've owned a FEG Hi-power clone for a couple of years now. I shoot the cheaper brands of bullets in it like Wolf & American Eagle made by Federal. I've never had any problems out of it. Last weekend I was at the local gunshow and bought a couple of boxes of Russian made 9mm luger. I was at the range and shot a couple of clips I had loaded with Wolf ammo and was noticing how much better I was shooting with my practice. The first round of the new ammo, jam. Cleared it fired 3 more shots, jam on the 3rd. I started inspecting the casings and noticed that the rim on the jammed rounds was very shallow. I put two end to end and you could tell a differance just by looking at it. Some of the rims were about 1/32 shallower than others not letting the ejecter get a good hold on them. The guy at the gunshow said they were made by Silver Bear. They say Novosibirsk LVE-Plant on the boxes.

I just rotated the magazine and noticed that the casings have dents in them from loading and unloading the clips. This is aluminum CCI ammo. I think I'm gonna get brass cased ammo for home defense and use the CCI for plinking!

Exclamation White Box Rox!

Howdy PDM.

I have been using the plain ol jacketed white box Winchester 9mm since day one in mu Beretta. One jam/failure to feed one time, in a dirty gun. About 500 rds through it without cleaning over 3 range trips (about 1 month).

(I got lazy and didn't clean every trip like I normally do, and ammo sat in truck for 21/2 weeks)

Cleaned er up and no probs since.

I generally buy the 100 rd economy packs and have not had a problem since that one shell.

How much more cost effective is the Russian ammo?

Maybe russian ammo tolerances are along the same loose lines as their tolerances were on the early (nam era) mig fighters?

Exclamation Careful with that whitebox stuff!

I generally shoot UMC Yellowbox 115grain FMJ in my Maadi Cadet - never a bobble. Tried a box of Winchester 115grain BEB once - two primers blew apart without igniting the powder ("pfft!") and one had the primer seated sideways! It also caused a lot of FTF and feeding jams. I've sworn off the stuff.
