Hello all,

but now i have to wait 3 days so i am learning all i can about them.
one thing i forgot to ask at the shop was

do weaver mounts for lasers work on them.
i have friends that are fairly knowledgable but have no experiance with springfields so they can only make guesses and i am looking for a definate answer from anyone that can say with certianty.

so would anyone happen to know?

and maybe in 3-4 days i might post pics of my new weapon

My friend just bought a new XDM at a gunshow 2 weeks ago. While there we also spoke to a Crimson Trace Rep and asked him if CT would be coming out with a laser grip that would fit in the back strap space similar to that of the Smith and Wesson M&P's. He reported that the company had not released one for it yet, but that he expected they would do so given the great success that the M&P laser grips have enjoyed.

The M&P integrated laser sights are an awesome addition to those guns. If you did not need a laser right away, I would wait for an integrated one like the Crimson Traces (I have one on an M&P40). It seems to be the best laser product out there and their lasers typically allow you to use your normal style holsters. RT

dont the crimson trace ones change the grip a bit.
i like the veridian green but damn the laser cost about 60% the cost of the weapon.
there are much cheeper types out there that have the weaver mount.

see the weaver mount is kinda sharp edged but when you look at the rails on the XD you notice that they are not very deep so that the weaver edges would appear to be TOO sharp and that is what im afraid of.

Examples when you look at the rails and the edges of that sight. notice how sharp the angle is and ends in an edge

The Crimosn Trace on the M&Ps doesnt effect the grip feel at all. I have used other CT grips on other guns as well that were not as integrated as the M&P and was pleasantly surprised.

I tried them on a Glock 9mm (I dont normally care for the grip on these) and the CT on the Glock made it even feel pretty good.

I tried to insert some pictures of the M&P but I have not figured out how to insert pix yet n this site.
