I believe it passed the first round. It has now moved on to the SENATE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE.
if you live in Ca. please call. (the republicans are all opposed).
Thank you.

California: AB962 Scheduled to be Heard on Monday, July 20 in Sacramento

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Please Contact the Senate Appropriations Committee Today!

Assembly Bill 962 has been scheduled to be considered by the Senate Appropriations Committee on Monday, July 20.

AB962, sponsored by Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45), would make it a crime to privately transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition per month, even between family and friends, unless you are registered as a “handgun ammunition vendor” in the Department of Justice’s database. Ammunition retailers would have to be licensed and store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers. The bill would also require purchasers submit to fingerprinting, which would be kept in dealers' records and subject to inspection by the Department of Justice. Lastly, mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited.

Please contact the members of the Senate Appropriations Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to oppose AB962. Contact information can be found below.

Waterdog, we get it. Now unless you have something CONSTRUCTIVE for the forum. Please stop posting here. It's not productive to say, "Mexifornia... I'm glad I don't live there blah blah blah" to the people who live here! We're doing the best we can in a state populated by idiots.

We here in California are TRYING to fix this screwed up state.

I agree FS00008,

I left California a year ago to move to Utah to be with my kids and grandkids but lived in California for 30 years. I saw and experienced how far off the deep end things have gotten and I know far too many people who are as irritated as you about the way things have gone. I hope you can get things squared away before it is too late.

I moved here from Georgia and am so annoyed at this state that I try every day to get someone interested in shooting or take them to the range, I pass out the numbers of legislators and encourage people to call them and voice support or opposition to the numerous bills that we get...

and we get NO SUPPORT from people in otehr states. FFLs in other states won't take the 5 minutes to register on the CFLC and help us to screw the state legislators by buying out of state, out of state ammo sellers sometimes won't sell ammo to us even where it's legal to do so... gun parts...

and so on. it's infuriating! We can't do it all ourselves! WE NEED HELP!

My family moved out here and I missed them so much that I followed. Now that I'm in state and still in school it's difficult financially to move to another state and start over :-(

Now, wouldn't this bill hurt our economy?
From what I understand, it is the hunting community who takes care of our land. I don't see many federal or state dollars taking care of our wilderness. So, preventing people from buying more ammo would keep us from doing our sport.

the problem people have with California is its so far gone we don't feel sorry for the citizens any more. we should all be upset but we think why live there when there's 49 other states ? But to be right in one is wrong in another.

Georgia is the best state in the world.

I read somewhere that God made Georgia modeled after his own house.

I went to waterdog's profile, just curious, to see where he lives. Didn't find it but noticed "waterdog has not made any friends yet". Wonder why?

I started to think. Who is the author of this bill. Well he comes from one of the worst gang communities of the LA area. God bless the Leo's who work there, but they are up against gangs, well affiliated with the drug cartels of Mexico. Putting a stop to ammo purchasing will only halt the ammo sales of law bidding citizens and the gangs will still get their lead.

Since I wont be able to purchase enough to practice and not enough to protect my family, I feel defenseless.

As stated earlier, call the committee members, who are for this bill. Let them know your concerns. We are the victims.

KR, while I'm here... I'm going to fight for my rights as much as possible. As stated before, it is not financially feasible for me to move out of California and therefore I must do as much as possible to help further our cause here. As soon as I can though, I'm moving back home!

Yes, I believe I would hurt the california economy. probably not much since I don't suppose gun and gun related business is very big here. but to the people who work at gun stores and at ranges it would be devastating. how many ranges do you think could survive on 50 rounds per month per customer?

I did receive a reply from Arnie regarding this issue. he said he seldom looks at legislation until it arrives on his desk since it changes so much.

It would hurt the California economy far worse with all the lawsuits that would follow passage. With Nordyke, any gun laws passed, especially such as this one... they will be forced to defend them in court. They will not stand up to Federal review with the Nordyke decision that incorporates the second amendment against the state.

CA Bill AB962. Just remember people, crap always flows down hill.

And how many other things that have been passed in Ca. has made it's way to other states?

If those of you in Ca. want things to change, you gotta vote the morons in office proposing and trying to pass this stuff out of office. Until you do, you got no one to blame but yourselves. Same for us in Illinois.

But, until other people step up we're all stuck with the morons we have.

i will google it too, but is it some kind of precident that prevents screwey new laws?

I'm still new to the gun world so some of the older lawsuits are off my radar.
Thanks
