OK guys I have had my mossberg 500A i think (i bought it in january) and i have had some problems wit my mag tube. When i load a shell into it i sqeuaks and honestly I CANT HUNT WITH THAT! its under warranty till 2013. But ive had some trouble takng it off..so i need some help!
Can't you open up the oppisit end ? Is it not solderd on the reciever end ? I'd send it back to Mossberg because if you mess it up, then it will be worthless as tits on a Boar Hog .
well if u mean if i can get the barrell off then yah...but i dont think its sodderd on i think its glued or something and ive tried heat ...but ill probabl send it back. gotta call em...
Unless Mossberg entirely redesigned the 500, the mag tube should just be screwed into the receiver housing. Remove the barrel, then unscrew the tube, remember: righty=tighty, lefty=loosey. Maybe apply a little Break-Free CLP first?

wait a minute LEFTY LOOSEY!!! ooooh ther the problem (who invented that rule)......but anyway i was looking at the tube again today and the stuff that there reminded my of loctite so i think it is some sort of glue or loctite...oh boy i think im in this for the long run
When I removed my mag tube from my 500 to remove the "duck plug", I remember that it was threaded just like OldTimer said. And like you've noticed, there was some sort of "locktite" on the threads. And, it was VERY hard to break it loose and get it unscrewed.
