Umm, Sam, I find the reference to the 4 letter word for defecation in post number 29 to be in violation of the FCC rules about language. Shame on you! 
I have a colleague who, when he has intestinal irregularities resulting in the expulsion of methane and associated noxious odors, has found he does so with very little noise. He takes a certain amount of infantile delight in giving the students some seat work to do and then walking up and down the aisles, 'observing their work' while modifying the atmosphere of the room. He refers to this practice as 'planting flowers' for some reason he has yet to explain.
I think his behavior is totally unprofessional and also totally hilarious.
