Father and Son

A father and his son were walking
through the Manhattan Financial District
when they come across an empty space and
the Father stops to reflect for a while.
"Imagine son," the father says, "exactly
31 years ago the great "New York 's
World Trade center Twin Towers"
stood proudly in this area".
Intrigued by the comment, the son asks
"What were the Twin Towers, dad?"
To which the father replies "They were
two of the largest buildings in the
world and they housed many thousands
of offices.... but on September 11 2001,
they were destroyed by terrorists"
The son pauses for a while and then asks
"What are terrorists, dad?"

Yes, this definitely puts generational differences into perspective--what's a terrorist? This leads me to think about the current administration's change of the name "War Against Terror." To some inane phrase that I can next remember....and refuse to use.

+1 Jerry, now if we could just get rid of unconstitutional government agencies like the Department of Homeland Security and a few others that don't follow the rules of our Constitution.

I just don't like seeing a war on an abstract concept or tactic. It creates a framework to make it seem never-ending.

It's like a "War in Amphibious Assault".

While maintaining a good level of security and fighting our real enemies are always very important for the nation to be strong, throwing out blanket, "marketable" terms always bugged me a bit.

I like "What was Al Qaeda?" myself...
