they were mounted in the door sam and used the same as the 60's on the huey's sam we only had a couple and they really shock the helo, and yes most were forward mounted. They were called "Big Mother Truckers" and they could haul the mail that is for sure.

Jack just take the rifle your most comfortable with.
PIgs don't know or care what caliber you use.
For distances your referring too, please be sure of your target.
I've put the crosshairs on black cows and calves before. Got a weird feeling when amimal pops out from behind cover. Almost like passing gas in a crowded elevator.

Well,don't remember seeing a door mount .50.Do remember seeing door gunners with m60,s on embilical,s and them on safety straps leaning way out the door firing straight down.I don't know,wasn't paying much attention.They never let me ride very long .They just took me so far and dumped me off.I never had money enough for a round trip ticket. ,,,sam.
