Meow LEOS meow..

I live in the center of Tucson, near a large night club.

Every Fri.night someone shoots a gun off..
Last night no exception, 9 shots 2 diff guns, it happens every weekend.
Police always come 30 mins. after or send up the chopper to spotlight the neighborhood.
God forbid they have a Cruiser go thru the lot at closing or have a Helo flyover at closing or HEY..have a cruiser at the end of the lot visible to all.

Why prevent the shooting when you can arrive 30 mins. after and clear the smoke..

About 4 months ago a long gun battle broke out, around 30-35 shots, I was on 911 30 secs. after first shot..I gave the best recon details to this 911 op. What calibre of gun I thought the shot was, car colors partial plates etc..for 30 minutes..30 minutes and I watched the whole lot clear before 1 cop arrived..Center of Tucson right off of Tucsons busiest street..
Less that 2 miles from a huge substation.
3 weeks ago 2 people were shot and seriously wounded there. Cops arrived 25 mins after..and at the same time the Ambulance did..

I have offered my rooftop for surveillance to the TPD I live across the street..from that vantage point you can see the whole lot, the entrance/exit to the club and a great view for license plates as they leave..I tried to tell them having a rooftop cop and a few cruisers on the road waiting near the exits would give the TPD a 100% chance of catching the shooters...Well, they "Don't so that type of Policing"

I have 2 LEO (Sherrifs) High School chums who I have talked with about this..My argument was "To protect and serve" means to protect the people, by hiding and cowering you are only protecting and serving yourself..where does the public benefit from your actions when you are slow to a shooting call? I rarely talk to those LEO friends now..

I have friends who live on the south side of Tucson..They tell me "You're lucky they even come..we have gunfire every damn night, we never see any TPD.."

To protect and serve..Public Enemy said it best .."911 is a M@#$%^ Fu%^$# joke!"

Prevention should be the first concern...not late ass reaction..And yes I have tried to talk to the club owner, he won't see me...He's from the Iran so I am told..why should he care Americans are killing themselves in his lot..His "Security guards" consist of obese men who have earpieces..nice..

Can't move rent's too cheap, house is too nice..

and God, I so want to return fire...my son is in the bedroom next door to mine..

Well, you could take it to the state and see what happens. I would tell yer "friends" what good is yer gun if you won't use it to "serve and protect"? Might as well be like some countries where their police either have a small .38 special or NO gun AT ALL!!!

Suppose someone just happened to be up on a rooftop vantage point and just happened to have a rifle and happened to accidentally shoot a couple of tires while cleaning his gun and those tires happened to be on the cars of the shooters? Do you suppose TPD would come and help the guys change to the spare and wish them safe driving? I can't imagine they might get there before the innocent rooftop gun cleaner finished cleaning his rifle and put it away and resumed posting on his favorite website, can you?

You can "borrow" my .375 H&H and put a few 300 grain bullets into the engine compartment. Low lifes drive on flats. You see it all the time on Cops.

The "getaway" car is probably stolen and they would just abandon it for another.

Someone on G&G, I cant remember who, but recently I read their tag line signature thing and it read...

"A gun in hand is better than a cop on the phone" or some variation like that,,, bout' summed it up. People in some areas are nuts and hell bent on killing each other. When law enforcement arrives suddenly they have a mutual enemy.

Yet another good reason I recommend moving way out where you got no neighbors and the only gunshots you hear are your own.

I feel bad for anyone having to live in those areas and especially for the kids who have to grow up in poverty, crime and in a community where the citizens themselves don't do anything to end the nonsense. Where you keep your mouth shut or join the insanity of gang and criminal life.

I wish there was an easy answer on what to do about this problem. It seems when they all are hopeless nothing seems to change. There have been many programs come and go to give jobs, money, chance at ownership, community policing, anti drug etc... nothing seems to be working.... Maybe build new OK Corrals and let them just shoot it out!

So how is retards shooting at each other the local pds fault.

Did you ever think they are busy with other emergencies?
I applaud you with your efforts in trying to keep your family safe,
maybe video taping the club and going to the city will shut it down.

Hell, here in Abilene, the cops just sit around hoping something exciting will happen. They love shootings, robberies, etc. as long as no one but the 'scrotes are hurt in the process.

You are your first line of defense. The LEO can only come after the fact. That's how it works. If you rely on someone else for defending you, I guess you gotta wait for the cavalry. Me, nah, I'm not waiting......

+1.. It's up to me to defend my family, first and foremost. I'll get the troopers on the way after the situation is in control. The LEO's can't be everywhere, there just isn't enough of them. Around my neck of the woods, they do an outstanding job, unless you're the bad guy. God bless them all and keep them safe.

Burke, that's crazy and it sucks.

In the Peoria/ Glendale area I have seen a couple of places shut down. If you set up a camcorder and start bothering your city council person it will happen. I have a friend who had their whole neighborhood watching and reporting on a place that opened up behind their house. They recorded every fight there.

In that case the cops were always trying to tell them not to call in complaints. They also always showed up a half hour after the fights were over, even though they often ran a speed trap down the street. The place was also loud and breaking sound ordinances and my friends neighbor bought testing equipment to prove it. It seemed no one cared, but eventually they did shut it down. The city council people were frustrated and went back through the liquor license application and found irregularities.

wow whats the crime rate like where you live?

We have a 3 min response time here Im very proud to say. And we have a VERY PRO active not RE- active force to keep things in order before the neighborhood goes to hell.

Once its there and there is so much crap going on its hard to play catch up.

I am happy to say that Las Vegas Metro is pretty quick to respond to most any altercation(depending on location). Some areas are busier than others but for the most part they do a very good job. I used to do ride alongs alot with my friend when I was single. The crap that they have to deal with nightly is amazing.

Darn right they are. Really one of the best bunch of LEOs of anyplace I've lived. They check out everything, as I well know. Every one I've encountered has been professional and polite.

We also have very few incidents of Metro abusing their authority.

They also put the zip-cuffs on quite loosely if you're not being a jerk while they sort things out.

To be fair...I've heard some unflattering stuff about the local fire-department from a friend of mine who's an EMT, though.

I have the highest regard for the profession, and little regard for the majority of the "professionals" serving in it. I feel to many schoolyard bullies are now wearing a badge, they like to bully/intimidate who they can, while being cowardly and useless in a real emergency with real Bad Guys.

To the LEOs who are out there fulfilling their oath, kicking a**, and taking names... I Thank You.
