Murfreesboro, Tennessee-AP -- A city official in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, doesn't like the phrase "God Bless America" on a nine-eleven memorial at a fire station

City Manager Roger Haley says it improperly mixes government and religion. He says no one from the city approved the display set up by firefighters. So he ordered it changed to what he says would be more appropriate for public property.

The memorial at Murfreesboro Fire Station Number Six now consists of a model of the World Trade Center towers and the edited phrase "Bless America."

Not everyone is happy. Firefighter Dwight Ogleton says he's offended, because he believes in God.

This city Manager is going to be ousted in the next few weeks merchants are already feeling the pain as many people have called the stores and told them they will no longer shop in their stores because the city doesn't like the word God in God Bless America then that means money with In God We Trust might offend someone there too.

This kind of thing really pisses me off. I'm offened that some atheist is offened by this. Same thing with your other post on the confederate flat. Funny how certain groups raise a big stink about things & everyone has to bow down just to appease them.

Its more a case of lack of courage. Very few people in public office have the gumption to just say "If you don't like it, go f*** yourself". Personally I have never found myself lacking when it came to telling someone my true feelings. I never was much of a fan of Harry Truman but at least he let you know where you stood with him.

It's stupid. What's the matter with the firemen setting up a memorial with "God" in it? If all of the firefighters agree, and the public supports it, maybe they should oust this jerk. Like dhermesc said, I don't leave much grey area to be second-guessed when I tell someone how I feel. THIS guy would be getting daily visits from me, I can assure you....

Everyone in and near Murfeesborough do this!

Make a big sign that says GOD and keep placing it next to the "Bless America" on the monument. As fast as it is taken down, put another up.

Also, lay flowers, wreaths, candles and cards at the base of the monument, all of which say in big letters, "God Bless America" You have seen on tv at other monuments etc. how it was done.

Next, country wide, e mail, mail and call this dipshit Athiest Roger Haley and sing or recite or write the lyrics to God Bless America. Do it daily for Haley!!!
