Same here, although the current price is a little crazy even for the Mini 30 which would get me by even though I would like a medium sized cartridge rifle.

heres my two. prices really are high now, I paid $350 n.i.b for the blued one back in 1980. the stainless one in the folding stock I paid $200. from a guy down the road (it didn't have the folding stock) in about 1990. If I only had a time machine so I could go back and get the deals I passed up!

Bought this used about 3 months ago. Came with 2 20 rd. clips and 2 30 rd clips, plus 286 rds. of mixed .223 and 5.56. $250.00!
1986 Mini-14 GB. The bi-pod is from my Tantal and does not belong to this rifle.
no felonies but I was still turned down for a mini 30 any one no why
No idea why, but you better find out if you want to buy a gun in the future.
Could be a lot of things. I would start with how you filled out the federal form - any restraining orders? mental issues? buying for someone else? etc. Ask the gun shop why you were turned down.
147 Inches, I need to call the police and report a crime, you stole that mini, what a deal, I wish I could run up on one like that. over the years I have owned and traded or sold lots of minis, right now I am down to a brand new Mini 14 tactical and a series 189 mini 30. wish I had all the ones I had. by the way, beautiful weapon you got there at a hellacious price....

^ this! im looking at picking one up from a fellow here at work for $500, and i thought that was a good deal!
I've got a Mini 30 and have enjoyed it very much. Don't know why it was not seriously considered for military use. Has the rock solid Garand design, works well in 7.62x39 or 5.56 or could be made for 30-30, 270 etc if a more powerful round is desired, light weight, easy to disassemble. There are so many positives I can think of BUT the most important is hard core reliability which was proven during WWII with the M1.
