well I think I cracked the code. He made up some homemade bullet lube using vasaline, crayola crayons, and beeswax. He shot a stout loaded .454 with no visable leading. lol

rifle for sale and I've noticed a [COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important]couple[/COLOR][/COLOR] of things about your rifle , It appears to be a Ishapore rework of an earlier gun .
Its Very possibly an Australian lithgow , the rear sight ears/ protectors are marked with an OA which is the manufacture code for the Orange arsenal located in New South Wales , Also the rear handguard has the 2 cross pieces imbedded in the wood , this was done to strenghten the timber both of these are unique to Aussie made 303's .
Another thing is the cocking piece on the rear of the bolt in an early type ( WW1 to early WW2)
Its common practice for the Indian arsenals to scrub the original manufacturers details off the gun and refurb also called FTR a rifel and then remark it .
Its a pity it wasnt for sale here (Australia) as it would go in a flash with those details and history behind it .
Nice gun too by the way , its a shame to sell it off.
