Howdy everyone,

I'm planning a canoe trip next year and would like to find a place out north-west where we could canoe for 2-3 weeks at our own pace, without having to see too many people (like in a park), or passing through too much of civilization. I'd prefer not to have guides/outfitters, I don't want a guided trip, just being able to shove off and do our own thing.

I'm still looking around on the internet, but figgered I might get better info from ya'll...

Also, if anyone has any knowledgeable info on hunting during the canoe trip, that would be greatly appreciated as well!

the upper Missouri River in central Montana. It is canoe friendly and there are several BLM camp grounds or you can just camp most places. The only down side is you have to carry your drinking water as the river is muddy and will clog a filter quickly. From Coal Banks to the Robinson Bridge is a couple of hundred miles, but there is a take out about midway at Judith Landing.

addendum: You will need to get an outfitter to do the shuttle for you to leave your vehicle at your take out. Also there is no cell phone service in the area so you are on your own.
