Mossberg 100atr

Ran across a MOSSBERG 100ATR in 270 with Bushnell glass for $200.

Thinking of getting my first deer rifle and giving it a try this year. Is this a decent choice and a decent?

for $200, i'd be willing to give it a try. if your able, that rifle should be at least accurate enough to take any reasonable shot at a deer.

I've got one in .30-06 that shoots real good.
I'm not real crazy about the way the bolt is
designed though.

If you don't buy it, let me know where it is and I'll send my dad to buy it. (He's in FL) I have heard and read a lot of good things about the rifles on the net. Guys who have them seem to like them.

I almost bought one in 30-06 last year, but then ran into a deal on a Savage that was too good to pass up and bought it instead.

For a first deer rifle it will be fine, as others mentiond it should be more than accurate for deer hunting.

very good rifles for the price I use one in .308 set up with a bushnell 3-9x40 scope and love it. I have found that the ATR 100 performs at its best on reloads with hornady flat base projectiles seated 0.021" off the lands I get .075 - 0.85" at 100 yards using W748 powder and that is with the rifle being stock standard. Another good thing is if you get one of the ATR 100's with the non adjustable trigger you can get a lighter trigger from rifle basix (looking into getting one that is set at 14oz) plus a rail mount for the scope would not go astray plus a decent bedding job done on it as they only have plastic bedding moulded into the stock
