My son cut his teeth on the 20 ga model. It is your basic Mossy 500 functionally with a shorter stock, forearm and barrel. Basically a youth model. Mossberg pumps have a decent reputation. I got a coupon to upgrade the stock for 1/2 price when I got the gun. I don't know if they still do that. It will allow a person to grow into it for a certain extent.

The recoil pad was a little hard on my son's. I also bought a slug barrel but I think they may have it in a combo.

I really find it a handy package to keep for home defense, easy to manipulate around corners etc. If it's a youngsters gun, this could give double duty for the adult in the home.

Recommended buy. Good product for the money.
