Pictorial: Backyard Friends II

I took this week off from work to spend some time with the kid before school starts back. Tomorrow we're hitting Carowinds. This weekend we spent a lot of time outdoors just loafing. Just chillin' around the tree farm.

To really set it up, you need to peep the pics in this thread: http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/pow...d-friends.html (Pictorial: An Evening with 7Š and Backyard Friends)

Back? OK, I'll continue...

We've been putting out corn and apples for our backyard friends. We've bonded with one of our backyard friends. Karson (my daughter) named her Zoe.

Zoe down by the branch...

We assume this is Zoe's kid. We named her Chloe...

Zoe up close. We can pet her now...

Just wanted to share. I'm a badass, but times like this with my daughter and nature make me a soft. Pretty special times to me.
I hope these are the times my kid always remembers.

PS Ernie the Eagle was out pimpin' the skies again today.

Yes, I know it's a hawk. Don't tell my kid. Let her have her fun.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful outings with your daughter! That ole bird looks like one of our Okie garbage collectors! We have crews of them all over, out here, making sure the roadkill gets picked up!! LOL!

Wow! The closest I've ever gotten to a deer was when I drove by the college hockey rink and they were grazing in front of it. This was a few days after a Wild Turkey decided to camp out in front of the coffee shop in town (this is a town of 30,000 people, not any place you'd expect to find a turkey), so maybe nature was on overdrive? Who knows.

Just so you know, Ernie is in fact what birding addicts (that would be me and a bunch of other hopeless ornithologists) call a "TV"...Turkey Vulture! Don't worry, I won't spill the beans to your daughter
