Rep. Adrian Smith (NE): The fight over the Second Amendment

"...the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." Amendment II Those 14 words, perhaps more than any others in the U.S. Constitution, have inspired discussions, arguments and legal debates for years and years. This is old news about ex-Black Panther, US Army deserter and convicted felon Bobby Rush's extremist anti-gun bill. (Nice people Chicago sends to Congress, don't they?) The last I heard, the bill was pigeonholed in committee and is expected to die there. Even the Democrats are not foolish enough to put something as asinine as the Blair Holt Bill onto the floor for a vote.

Incidentally, don't you find it curious that Rush proposes a bill dealing with guns, that he is no longer allowed to possess? He did six months in jail for illegal possession of firearms, a felony in Illinois. He can't pass a Form 4473 check with NICS. He's a convicted criminal, and yet he wants to make it harder to impossible for honest citizens to own firearms. What a hypocrite he is!
