Sticky Mark V

Hey I found a used Mark V in .300 Win Mag at my local gun shop Synthetic/Stainless $340 (no sights) All good except the Bolt is east to lift up but sticks when you push and pull to open/close the action. The Guy behind the counter said it just needs a cleaning and lubricating. What do you guys think?

That is more than likely what is wrong with it , but there could be other minor issues such as a protruding screw in the receiver , etc...

A really quality cleaning is definitely the first step.

Then take a cotton rag made oily with a light lubricant such as 3-in 1 oil to wipe over the metal surface.

This may just solve the problem as many people pile on the grease.

Well, the Weatherby Mark V is in a class of guns

somewhat analagous to what a Mercedes Benz is to the world of automobiles. High class, top of the line engineering, and great quality control.

That does not make it the only supergun. A Tikka is a Sako barrel mated to a high quality action. You cannot go wrong with a Tikka and the price is lower than a Weatherby Mark V.

I would not feel in any way as having a lesser gun if I had a Tikka.
