Don't think he should have lost his job over it, but he seemed to have needed a "Don't do that" guy around.

Unless he has a bad record on top of this, I imagine he'll get hired by another law enforcement agency somewhere in Texas.

Guess he never listened to Johnny Cash:

When I was just a baby,
My Mama told me, "Son,
Always be a good boy,
Don't ever play with guns,"

Overkill! I doubt the weapon was loaded and it does my heart good to see officers having a little fun. Their job is not one I'd want and if a photo-op relieves the stresses of duty, let them have some fun! Jeez........

I am with Stale on this one. What is the problem here? The only thing I can see is that the officers were drinking (and it appears to have been on the job as their patrol car is outside). As far as the gun goes, So?? I hand a gun to one of my friends when we are at the shooting range or even in my yard. Was it the fact that the weapon was loaded? even then, she does have the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.

Also, as someone stated earlier, is the MSNBC reporter that stupid to not be able to tell the difference between a car hood and a trunk??

I'd be fired in a heartbeat just for drinking on the job, and I'm not an LEO.

And again: there's quite a difference between handing your gun to a friend at the shooting range or at home, and handing your department-issued rifle to a cocktail waitress in a parking lot so she can pose for pictures. I seriously doubt that's the public image the Sheriff wants to cultivate for his department, or the casual attitude towards weapons he wants to see in his officers.

Guns are not toys and props provided for the amusement of the deputies;. They're designed for killing people, and they should be treated with a little respect. And an on-duty deputy in uniform should comport himself with some dignity.

I am. Because of all the half naked women on tv a lot of the shows I like (or watched one episode of and thought might be okay) I don't watch.

My tv isn't on very much anymore. I just wish the sponsers would listen to me once in a while. After all, I do have money to spend on their products, as do my Christian friends who also do not watch.

Let me make sure I understood you properly.

You're saying you don't watch television much anymore, because there are too many half-naked women on it?

That is correct. If I want to look at a woman I have a wife, not some stranger.
If a man lusts after a woman in his heart, he has already commited adultry with her. (from the Bible, but not an exact quote - can get it later for you if you want it).

Personally, I don't feel the least bit guilty when I look at a beautiful woman. Nor do I think resisting temptation makes me a sinner just like giving in to it would have.

How do you deal with the fact that you're an adulterer many times over, without even getting any action?
