| HOORAY !!! For Andy Rooney ! ********* Get Ready ********* Andy Rooney and Prayer Andy Rooney says: I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin , but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his Theory of Evolution.. Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game.. So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire Book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game. But it's a Christian prayer, some will argue. Yes, and this is the United States of America , a country founded on Christian principles. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect -- somebody chanting Hare Krishna? If I went to a football game in Jerusalem ,I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer... If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad , I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer. If I went to a ping pong match in China , I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha. And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit. When in Rome ..... But what about the atheists? Is another argument. What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer! Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations. Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying. God, help us. And if that last sentence offends you, well, just sue me. The silent majority has been silent too long. It's time we tell that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard that the vast majority doesn't care what they want. It is time that the majority Rules! It's time we tell them, You don't have to pray; you don't have to say the Pledge of Allegiance; you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right; but by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away. We are fighting back, and we WILL WIN! God bless us one and all .... Especially those who denounce Him, God bless America, despite all her faults. She is still the greatest nation of all. God bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God. Let's make 2009the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions . And our military forces come home from all the wars. Keep looking up. This had pictures but I had to delete them because they did'nt post. A.H

This post makes some very good points! We need to stop letting a very small minority push us around because THEY are uncomfortable with OUR faith. |

And now the obligatory snopes reference... Snopes.com says most of this is taken from a column written by Nick Gholson in 1999, who works for the Times Record News in Wichita Falls, Texas. The last part was added by someone unknown; Gholson ended his original column with "so sue me." It's been attributed to both Andy Rooney and Paul Harvey. But regardless of who wrote it, he was saying some sensible things. |

HA ! Troy I've been sitting here waiting on you LOL To post your say. Your so predictable. I give you my word I knew you would go to Snopes or some where to debunk this. No Problem. Yet the fact remains the above story regardless of who wrote it is Saturated with truth !!! It is my Prayer and Hope that all Christians in the United States will rise United and fall to there knee's and ask God to turn this country around and bring revival and make this country and it's people Blessable again and one nation under God ! Think what you want. But this nation is Doomed with out the God of the Bible and his Son Jesus Christ in it. I Dare anyone to view this video...This video is truth !!! And says it all !!! Some of you think your so smart that none of this apply's today. Well your wrong !!! This country has turned it's back on the principles it was founded on. A covenant was made 3 days after the first settlers arrived with God. Though weve broke it God has'nt and until we repent and ask for forgiveness expect America to continue decay !!!

Here is my issue with what you posted: You asked me to believe Andy Rooney said it, he didn't. Christianity as we have come to know it, must change it's ways. They are commercializing, and making it a you're in or not kinda of club. This is a driving factor for a large part of the younger population. They are tired of having something so much shoved down their throat, that if they don't swallow they are the most wicked people to walk this Earth. How do I know all of this? Because I was treated this way, not in one city, but another one 100 miles away. I don't speak just on my specific instances, but on talking with a number of young people through out colleges in NC. If you truly want to change America back to these core values, start by looking in the mirror. AH, this is not a direct "attack" at you, but just a general venting when I meet these people who call themselves, Christians.

| Cardinal Richlieu ![]() | This is pretty much why I don't subscribe to any religious moniker, and I even really dislike calling myself a libertarian (though its easier that trying to explain what I believe in). So many people of party, faith, and form are in the ends justifies the means mindset. It pretty much turns me off to the world.

Good points, all. I was born & raised in a strict Roman Catholic family. All things considered, I'm grateful for that. I did, and still do try & walk the walk, which I think is much more important than the "talk". Both sides of the issue have hypocrites too numerous to count. It isn't important to me that others think I'm any more "pious" than anyone else. Frankly, I couldn't care less. I got that attitude back in the late '60s when I had the nerve to show up at Mass freshly showered in clean blue jeans & button up shirt. If looks could kill, I'd have been dead in about 10 seconds. Naturally, the meanest looks came from some of the worst crooks in my small town. When the last 2 Popes told those of us who divorced & remarried that we didn't deserve to take Communion anymore, that pretty much tore it for me. (I guess it's OK for them to protect pedophile priests until they're successfully sued though). We weren't even offered a chance to reconcile via confession, as even a murderer or pedophile (see above)could do. All I can do now if try & life the life & hope for the best. The so-called bumper sticker Christians aren't much better than the so-called "Godless" in my experience. Neither group seems to pay much attention to the Golden Rule. Just my 2-cents. Dave PS Good post Chris, we should all look in the mirror critically now & then.

Quote Chris...If you truly want to change America back to these core values, start by looking in the mirror. Thats what I'm doing. Reminding some that already know and showing the ones that don't know. Though I know it's a looseing battle I will press on because I love my Country and I will die for my Country if I have to. I want everybody to know why this Country use to flow with Milk and Honey and why it does'nt anymore. The other stuff you mentioned in your post, you need to deal with it and try to change them of there wrong. About Andy Rooney...I thought he wrote the above but after I posted it I thought Troy2000 would probable come along and shoot it down if he "could", and he sure enough did. Anyway I thought it was by Andy Rooney when I posted it. Regardless of who wrote it, it's true. Mike
