Look up JMacDonald and look at some of his past threads about .22's platforms. I had wondered that myself after reading some of the commentary regarding him and found out where it came from.

SV libertarian, way back in the day, JMacDonald, made a thread with the title "My supremely viable 10/20" or something like that, it went like 200 posts, and the phrase "Supremely Viable" went down in infamy, he defended his belief in the .22lr as a shtf round till the bitter end. personaly i liked him, others thought he was a quack he is just a youngin that was all not enough experience...

In times of SHTF, a nice quiet .22lr is great for a lot of things.

But a 10/22 ain't the one to go with...if you want high capacity & real potential for damage, get a Calico M-100 carbine or M-110 pistol (100 rounds per mag) or an AM-180 (180 rounds of .22lr per mag)

A Ruger 10/22 just doesn't cut it...and definitely not in the accuracy department.
