Have you guys seen this?

Okay, so heres the deal. I'm a fan of the AK. I'm always trying to find way's to make them more effective (even if I can only afford some of them ). I almost bought the AK Lightning Bolt when it came out, but when I did some more research, it seemed a lot less awesome than it did to begin with. Now I just saw this sight today.

This seems to have a lot more potential than the lightning bolt ever did. What do you guys think?

Im not sure about this mod... I wouldnt mind it but as it is id think a better mag system would improve it more. But thats coming from an AR-15 user

Do not want. As stated above I'm a lefty too and I'd reap no benefit from this. Even if I shot right handed I wouldn't mess with this set up.

The whole mod is really pointless, the proper way to charge an ak is at least the way i was taught, is when you are standing, you change mags, then with your left hand you reach around the rifle and charge the bolt handle with your left thumb since your hand is already there from swapping the mags.

Looks like what happens when a CETME has sex with an AK, POOF nine months later a "ratchet system".

Everyone is trying to improve AKs, and nothing I have seen except the RAM speed mag catch are ANY improvement! Bunch of tacticool garbage. If it was good, the Russians would be using it already. I expect they will adopt a variation of this:

Well, it looks like it may be easier than reaching around the rifle, but one trained or with practice could probably reload and recharge the gun in the same amount of time with either set up. IMO, it would be better if the bolt stuck open and you could pop the lever down, but it would still be just as fast to use the normal charging handle. It is an interesting design.

I'd like to see someone grab that charging handle after 4 or 5 quick mag dumps! Heat is not your friend.

Very good point. I have an idea for a better system that will minimize much of the heat transfer issues, an independent charging handle so that it is not connected to the gas piston so it doesn't move at all.

hmm...

It's great to see people being innovative & trying to bring some of these older designs up to date but this one just isn't going to work out well.
