Can anyone here tell me who my Senator is talking about ???
I called her office to object Sotomayor and got this in return LOL...
Dear Michael: Thank you for contacting me about the nomination of Harold Koh to be the chief legal counsel at the U.S. Department of State.
As you may know, Mr. Koh’s nomination was confirmed by the Senate on June 25th. I appreciate your taking the time to share your concerns with me regarding Mr. Koh’s nomination. Rest assured, I will continue to defend the Second Amendment rights of Arkansans and will remain vigilant in protecting our nation’s sovereignty.
Thank you again for contacting me. To learn more about my work in Congress, Iencourage you to visit my online office and sign up for my e-newsletter at http://www.lincoln.senate.gov. I am proud to serve the citizens of Arkansas in the United States Senate and hope you will not hesitate to let me know whenever I may be of assistance to you.
May be this was from sending my objections through a second or third party...I don't remember.
^ It was to oppose Koh being confirmed to a cabinet position because he's a vehemently anti-gun guy as well as an apparent globalist (your senator either got them mixed up or if you're a NRA member you might have submitted this as well--the NRA did some pretty good articles on his bias and I'm sure her office got a bunch of e-mail opposing him).
I think it might have been Koh who was the basis for the ammo "shelf-life" rumor (i.e. ammo makers designing ammo with unstable compounds which go bad after a certain amount of time--I think this was one of his wacky ideas but might be wrong--obviously it isn't happening not to mention the liability of a squib or failure to fire due to the design).

I once wrote a congressman 4 times rergarding H1B visas. I got the exact same email back all 4 times and this was over a 3 month time. The politicians don't ever see your emails, they are responded to by office staff who probably just send out whatever they see on the list first.
They only way to really get their attention is to call or send them a written letter

Something of this sort has happened to me also. What really has been bothering me lately is when I call, I often have to get through the rhetoric of the aide on the other end of the line. I also think written letters are not seen by them either. It seems that the thing that governs their conduct is the party line and, only maybe, what their constituents are saying about the party line.

Absolutely true. That's why they have staffers. Very rarely does your letter, phone, or email contact actually reach the intended representative. That's why you might as well keep it really simple and short, so they can count it and move on to the next one. Send a lot of short letters instead of one long one. Don't use provided form letters, but feel free to plagiarize them for more effect.
If something about your letter impresses a junior staffer enough, they might send it up to a senior staffer, who in turn might or might not tell your rep. about it.

I think you guys have hit the nail on the head. The name on the door may change but, the staff doesn't and they really control how the "elected representative" vote by controlling the information he gets. Talk about power with no responsibiliy ! ! !
