Thumbs up Dove season begins tuesday

ITS ALMOST HERE!!!!!!

I love dove hunting and they are flying around like crazy over my property! Corn wont be down for awhile but I can work around it for awhile!!!

6 AM got two huntin' buddies meeting me at my house... let the carnage begin! Think I am using the 20ga,,,, but havent shot much skeet over the summer so may end up with the old 870 12ga! lOl

Anybody else hittin' the doves this year???

The dove hunting gods are with me once again this year as opening day happens to be off for me as a fluke because of a farm progress show at the college!!!

I was moving and forgot to send in permits for some of the better hot spots. I can slide in down by Havanna at some public land.

I'm hoping the cool weather don't push them out too fast. There have already been Teal sightings.

I'm hoping to head out next weekend. I haven't done much shotgun shooting this summer either so this could be interesting.

I can't wait either. I'll probably going to use my browning bps 20 ga. Nobody hunts them around where I live so their all over the place I don't think it will take long to get my limit.

Jerry, I have noticed the dove stay year round around my house... there is a big push of the migrants that come through, but a large population just lives here... I watched em' nesting in the pine trees behind my house all summer long! I didnt tell them what they are in for! HA!

Never really teal hunted but would be interested in trying, we got snipe around here but never shot many of them seriously either.

TeeRex... it WILL be interesting shooting tuesday as I have done VERY little shooting of any kind all summer been too busy!

Will probably take out 3 shotguns so I can blame the shotgun I am using for my poor shooting! LMAO!

You would be both welcome. I'd be honored.

Cross hair, if you get a chance next week & have a mad day, I wouldn't be opposed to taking a vac day and meeting over at Anderson Lake & whackin some dove. I think it's only 30-40 min from your neck of the woods. It is steel shot there btw.

Doves love me. 100 fly in and 100 fly out. On a good day I make a few change course. But damn if i don`t have a good time.
Ok, I get a few but a lot more "escape" my deadly pattern.

Dove season opened here in Cali this morning, too. I told my supervisor yesterday, "don't look in the back of my truck tomorrow morning." He laughed and said, "I see nothing; I know nothing."

But he knew I was joking. It probably wouldn't look good if DOT, CPUC or any of a dozen other state or federal agencies showed up, and the station operator was blasting away behind Plant 3....

Jerry - Sounds great! Between work and school I am usually going 6 days a week. I always have sundays off to do some sort of hunting sunday morning! Let me get my calendar and see if we can't come up with something. You are more than welcome to hunt my propery if you would like sometime Illiopolis is only about 15 minutes West of Decatur on 72. I have a good decoy setup and it seems to be working fantastic! I DO want to hunt some public dove grounds however. I have heard good things about Jim Edgars Panther Creek State Park... they plant acres of sunflowers. Will PM you a schedule when I get more info tomorrow... the Farm Progress Show threw my whole schedule out of whack... which is why I actually ended up with opening day off so I'm not complaining! LOL

I got my limit opening day... always a good sign!

I don't think the big migrant population is really even coming through the area yet. I got lots of year round dove here anyway and opening day I didnt ever see any big flocks, lots of 3-5 in a group but thats not usual year round. So I really think the dove season hasnt even begun to get "hot" yet.

OH... the MOJO dove is AWESOME!!! bringin' em right into my decoy line!

I'm tearing them up! LOL

Jerry, I am off Sunday and Monday!!! rarity for me! I plan to dove hunt both days on my property and if you are a mind to, you are more than welcome to join me. I will be probably do both morning and evening hunts... and work on the honey do list during the heat of the day when they arent flying anyway! LOL

We are at 33 in the freezer so far this year! and like I said before I don't think the migration push has come through around here yet!

If corn was down it would increase our odds a thousand fold and they aint too shabby as is. LOL I just love dove huntin' you can jaw with your friends and have a good time while you do it!

Offer is open Jerry and you are MORE than welcome to come over for morning or afternoon round or heck both if you want and make a day of it. Cant gaurantee how the birds will be flyin' but been good so far!
