Hi Ox,
I will use an external locked door handle and dead bolt with a cable lock inside secured to the floor with steel plates through the basement and closet floor.

Thanks,
Jerry

I have a home built wooden cabinet that has solid wood doors
for a little privacy. At some point I need to invest in a decent steel safe.

I think the most elaborate set up Ive seen is a house where the guy had a fire resistant room built into his already walkin closet. It rates at 2500 degrees for 30 or 45 minutes, unless you knew it was there you wouldnt have a clue. It's basically a steel reinforced box that was framed in to the house stands right at 6'/8'/10'. Now THATs security. Plus the three Knox safes also in the basement ( they had to put the master bedroom in the basement due to the weight of his "safe" room)

If someone were to break in and steal them most could be replaced though I hope that never happens. And the sentimentel value could never be replaced.
I need another one or a much bigger one. I have guns scattered around the house in closets and I don't like not being able to see them
Well, Mike, if you are a good guy this year maybe Mrs. Santa will get you another!!??

I made mine out of an old freezer, put a lock on it and bolted to the wall.
Not pretty, but efficient.

You should of let it sit upright and bolted it to the floor . unless some one broke in to steal meat , they wouldn't even look in the freezer for weapons. GREAT IDEA !!!!!!
I am looking into getting a tuff box for my ammo and gun accessories . not fire proof , but I figure I can bolt it to the floor and lock it . Thus protecting my items inside . and it will free up much needed safe space !!
