Not sure what trigger problem is all about. But are you sure about (rim/center fire) selector. It would be in hammer under spur (A screw). And safety is a slide in hammer Left/right with small pin that won't allow hammer to hit firing pin.

luck

You do understand that it is single action? You break it open using trigger spur ..load ..close and thumb back hammer and pull trigger !

Hk . Thanks for the clue about the rimfire/centerfire
screw in the hammer, found that out as I dropped the hammer on
a 22lr and made a dent in the middle of the
cartridge but I didn't notice the "slide safety".
This is a very early model, TCA tells me DOm is 1970.
Thanks so much
Ron

Mine is 79, bought new and only have 35 rem barrel. I shoot it
often and enjoy it much. Luck with yours

By the way, I'm sure your trigger pull is very good but early model TC'S have adjustment.
I won't suggest you mess with it but after removing barrel. look for a small set screw going down into action. It is very small and can be hard to see. CW= lighter CCW=heavy Cock the hammer(with empty chamber) and close the action "sharply" several times to insure that the setting is not to light. AT YOUR RISK !!!
