People who shot those revolving rifles learned to hold them with their off hand under the trigger guard. It saved fingers, if all the cylinders decided to go off at once....

It's a revolving rifle for sure. The Malcom looks like an original, but I'm not sure... I have a repro and this one is dissimilar. Great pic, thanks for sharing !!
