No, I've been reading it from time to time, but I can't believe people are still caught up in healthcare implants. It just doesn't make sense to believe something so ridiculous.

It's no more ridiculous than Sarah Palin saying this bill would force her to stand in front of a Death Panel with her son in her arms, so panel members could decide whether he should live or die live.....or believing that senior citizens will be forced to attend mandatory counseling sessions on how to kill themselves, or.....um. Never mind; you're right. It's gotten pretty ridiculous.

What makes you think this couldn't happen here?
You mean aside from the fact that we aren't Germans; this isn't Germany after WWI; we don't have a Nazi government; and a few other trivial details like that?

If you're seriously trying to claim seniors today are worse off with Social Security than they would have been without it, I have to wonder what dimension you commute in from every mornig....

And where do you come up with your figure of less than $800 a month? As of July of this year, the average retired worker on Social Security was getting about $1160 a month, not less than $800. And no one ever claimed the purpose of the program was to let everyone retire in the lap of luxury, without needing else at all.

Monthly Statistical Snapshot, July 2009
I'm not saying they are worse off now, I'm saying the system is not running the way it was intended. It was voluntary, if you wanted in you could, if not you did'nt have to. The money was to be put in an interest bearing account, hence, making you money. And the government could not touch it. Now.....everyone HAS to be in it, (except for the illegal aliens and goverment officials, one who gets it, the other who waste it) It is not in an interest bearing account because its not there long enough to gain any interest. And the government pisses it away! And I'm sorry about my statistic, I was short $90 dollars a week. So $290 dollars a week.....we won't have to worry about anything when we retire, yippee! Point is Troy, the government has really messed this one up, and they are not worrying about it, because they are all taken care of when they retire, BY US!!!!!

To the best of my knowledge, the law establishing Social Security was never written nor intended to make it a voluntary program. I don't see how it could possibly have ever worked at all, if that were the case. The old people getting ready to retire would've opted in to get the money; the young people who think they're immortal would've opted out so they didn't have to pay; and the system would have gone down the tubes in a matter of weeks or months.

Like many people, you seem to think Social Security is just some sort of glorified automatic savings plan. It isn't; it's an insurance program.

Actually, from a science perspective a medical chip has many merits. In fact they are already using them in cattle. My buddy's Uncle has a patent on a product that you feed livestock. It is a biochip that stays in their first stomach and monitors their blood pressure, body temps, heart rate, and so forth and then over wireless networking uploads that into a database where the cattle rancher can monitor the the health of each cow individually.

Think about how many diseases that are out there, that if caught early can be cured, or regulated as where the person never really gets sick? What if they could help detect and prevent cancer?

There are many medical and technical applications for such devices which are 100% legit. However, the idea is scary to many, and therefore probably not going to be explored too often.

Imagine if a doctor could pull data from your chip and see graphs of your blood pressure and body temperatures and then compare them to your diet or what you are doing. I mean a doctor can't monitor you all the time, so it is not like they can always make the best assessments on your health and they don't have enough data sometimes to give an accurate answer.

The application of such a technology could be change medicine forever, and it could improve it a lot. However, the idea of all this data being tracked is a bit scary to many. Especially when third parties get a hold of it or want to see it.

I concur though that this thread is ridiculous as I have already pointed out on several occasions.
